There have been many people suggesting that Cannabis can treat and even cure Ebola. While there is no scientific evidence to back up such claims.
Cannabis can be used to treat a variety of illnesses such as:
HIV and AIDS
Alzheimer’s
Arthritis
Asthma
Crohn’s Disease
Epilepsy and Seizures
Glaucoma
Hepatitis C
Migraines
Multiple Sclerosis
Nausea from Chemotherapy
Pain
Some Psychological Conditions
Tourette Syndrome
Those that are Terminally Ill
The million dollar question is can cannabis be used to treat Ebola?
Since the Ebola outbreak there has been a lot of controversy on whether or not cannabinoids in marijuana can cure Ebola. Since cannabis can control and help someone’s immune system and specifically target diseases that our body’s natural defense measures against viruses like HIV.
Dr. B. Allen, the medical director of Cannabis Sativa Inc., as well as Brade Morehouse who is the founder of NewCure.org both believe that cannabis can fight the Ebola virus in the same way that it fights the HIV virus.
Ebola is a virus that attacks the RNA in our bodies. RNA create proteins in cells, take over, then they begin to replicate themselves.
The Ebola virus is able to hide itself from virus killing cells by creating invisible replicated cell surface proteins, which makes fighting Ebola very difficult for the body.
Another consequence of Ebola is that the RNA virus of every strain of Ebola is unique making it very hard to create a vaccine that can cure the disease.
Ebola is deadly because our immune systems only reacts as time goes on. The Ebola virus causes hemorrhaging that is leaking between cells. Ebola kills because when an infected person’s body releases a ton of enzymes and it becomes a fatal amount of immune cells being activated.
That’s where marijuana comes in as a potential cure to those infected with Ebola. Joe Martin points out, cannabis contains natural antiretroviral and is also an anti-inflammatory able to reduce the harm to the body caused by the fatal amount of immune cells that kill Ebola patients.
Dr. Allen also stated that cannabis has already become a legitimate regulator of immune system processes for those infected with HIV, which is very similar to Ebola as cannabis is being applicable to Ebola. Being a natural virus killer, Dr. Allen also states that cannabis can prevent the other harmful consequences of Ebola, mainly the hemorrhaging and cell leaking which is what causes the fatal amount of immune cells that kill Ebola patients.
Strong evidence suggests that cannabis can be a positive treatment for those suffering from Ebola but don’t count on it as being the cure. Stating that cannabis is a cure for Ebola are based on hypotheses that are based on research involving other viruses, and not proven fact. Since cannabis fights other immune system diseases a clinical trial has begun on the effects of cannabis on Ebola.
